"The way we sit, stand and walk has a far greater effect on health and fitness than any conscious exercise." - Bruce King
"Pilates Evolved" is a new approach to the traditional Pilates mat class. Instructor Barbara Mueller offers 20 years of experience incorporating many types of movement from her continuing explorations and has developed a format that not only embodies the principles of Pilates, but incorporates much more stretching, extension and twisting movements that train the body to be much more functional for every day life. The intention of this class to teach the student how to use the body in the best way possible so that exercise is only the 'tip of the iceberg.' We will train our bodies to engage in beneficial habits that make all movement a form of exercise. Not only are these exercises sometimes challenging, they are beautiful to see and enjoyable to do.
All levels of exercisers will benefit from this class.
Barbara Mueller, Creator of Springworks®
I have been teaching exercise for nearly 30 years, which began at the Jane Fonda workout, where I was the "teacher trainer". After the aerobics craze, I became interested in a more thoughtful way to train, stemming no doubt from my lifetime study of dance. In the mid nineties, I became certified in Pilates and Gyrotonic. I have studied tai chi, and many other techniques, and I never cease to be fascinated by any and all systems of movement.
I have used the Pilates equipment to develop my own system, Springworks®, which is a very fun and effective way to work out on the Pilates equipment, however I think there is no need for machines to learn these principles.
Teaching classes has always been my favorite way to share knowledge! I love being able to help and teach what I've discovered to my students, and am absolutely nourished and fulfilled when I learn that my teaching has helped someone.
